A 26-YEAR-old woman’s labour pains worsened after she was punched repeatedly in the abdomen by a hospital security guard at the Sultanah Fatimah Hospital in Muar, reported Harian Metro. Muar deputy OCPD Supt Lee Choon Guan said the guard had helped to push the woman’s wheelchair to the delivery ward while her husband parked the car.
“In the lift, he punched her several times before sending her to the ward,” he said. The stunned victim informed her husband of the security guard’s actions, prompting him to file a police report.
Supt Lee said the guard, who was believed to be suffering from mental problems, had been referred to the psychiatric ward. He added that the guard faced a year in jail, a RM2,000 fine or both. A hospital spokesperson said the woman had a safe delivery.
