SINGAPORE: A former office attendant at the Subordinate Courts chose to steal from the Court Registrar, Ms Hoo Sheau Peng.
Thirty-six-year-old Nishad Banu Peer Mohamud admitted that she had taken S$550 from Ms Hoo in May 2010.
Nishad was given 15 months' probation after pleading guilty to three counts of theft last month.
She took the money from Ms Hoo's wallet, which the Registrar had left unattended in her office.
The court heard that Nishad has been diagnosed with major depressive disorder and must follow up with her psychiatric treatment during her probation.
She will also have to attend counselling sessions organised by voluntary welfare organisation, We Care Community Services.
For each theft charge, Nishad could have been jailed up to seven years and fined.
