Woman fined $1,000 for scratching neighbour's car
By Khushwant Singh
A WOMAN, who scratched a neighbour's car, was fined $1,000 on Wednesday.
Hoo Siew Cheng, 35, was also ordered to pay her victim $500 as compensation.
A district court heard that Madam Lim Cheng Yong, a housewife in her 50s, discovered scratches in the paintwork of her Hyundai Kia car on several occasions since January last year.
Exasperated, she installed a video camera in her car to film the culprit.
At about 9.35pm on May 7 last year, Hoo, an operations manager, was filmed scratching the left side of the car at the car park in Punggol Central.
Madam Lim then lodged a Magistrate's Complaint through lawyer Winston Quek.
Hoo, who pleaded guilty to committing mischief by scratching the car with a sharp object, had blamed the neighbour, who lived directly above her flat, for water leakage and noises late at night.
