A South Carolina woman recently discovered her convict ex-boyfriend, who she dumped 12 years ago, holed up in her attic, spying on her, surrounded by cups of his own waste.

The Rock Hill, S.C., woman, who identified herself only as Tracy, told the Charlotte Observer she was sitting in her bedroom on her laptop and kept feeling that "something just ain't right."

She heard strange noises and saw insulation falling from the ceiling. Tracy, who has children ranging from three to 20, sent her two oldest sons to investigate, but they found nothing.

Then, at 2:30 a.m., nails in the ceiling fell to the floor.

She called her nephew, who investigated the depths of the cluttered attic only to find Tracy's ex-boyfriend asleep in a heating unit, next to a vent, which he had rigged to spy on Tracy.

According to WCNC, cops found several cups full of the man's feces and urine in the attic, where he'd been staying for two weeks.

The only way into the attic is through the hallway where the children's bedrooms are.

The Charlotte Observer reported that Tracy dumped the man 12 years prior before he faced a stint in jail for robbing a flower shop.

But she never lost contact with him completely. He wrote her love letters from jail, which she ignored. He helped install new doors on her home a year ago. Soon after, he was convicted of stealing her truck. He'd just been released from jail for that theft when he started sleeping in her attic.

Tracy changed her locks but said her children are now afraid to sleep in the house.
