A woman was charged on Wednesday with causing the death of an elderly pedestrian and two other traffic offences.
Salesgirl Candy Siow Pei Shan, 23, was allegedly behind the wheel of a car along Bukit Batok East Avenue 3 by Bukit Batok East Avenue 4 when she caused the death of Mr Tan Son Seng through her negligence on Feb 12, 2011.
She allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout while making a right turn, resulting in a near collision with an unknown car, and veered to the left, mounted the road kerb and hit the 70-year-old retiree standing on the walkway. Mr Tan was pronounced dead shortly.
Siow, represented by Mr Choo Si Sen, is also accused of driving without a licence and insurance coverage that morning.
