A 55-YEAR-OLD woman was brought to court yesterday on two charges - dealing with, and being in possession of, a firing pin for a weapon.
Loh Boon Cheng, who owns a shop in the Golden Mile Food Centre along Beach Road, allegedly sold a firing pin for an M16 rifle to a customer on March 5.
She faces a second charge from having been caught with such an item about two weeks later.
If convicted, she could be fined up to $10,000 and jailed up to three years on each charge under the Arms & Explosives Act.
She said she plans to engage a lawyer.
Her bail was extended until her next court date on Tuesday.
Earlier this year, a team from The New Paper went to Golden Mile Food Centre, a place known for selling surplus military supplies, and managed to buy an M16 rifle pin for $70.
