Woman among four suspects arrested for doctor’s murder
KOTA KINABALU: Four people including a woman have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 49-year-old doctor in the east coast Tawau district. Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Talib said the four suspects were arrested on Tuesday and have been remanded for a week.
However, police are still on the trail of a key suspect, who is likely to be arrested soon. “We are certain the main suspect is still hiding in Sabah,” Hamza said here yesterday. Dr Lim Tow Kiat, a bachelor from Johor, was found killed at his house in Taman Bunga Tulip in Tawau on Dec 8.
On the motive for the killing, Hamza said police believed it had to do with personal relations between the doctor and the main suspect. Dr Lim, who has been described as friendly and kind, was found dead at his house by a colleague who came looking for him after he failed to turn up for work in the morning.
He is believed to have been stabbed in the chest and hit on the head by his attackers. His hands and legs were tied up. Police have ruled out robbery as the motive, and believe that the doctor knew his attackers. There were no signs of break-in or forced entry at the doctor’s house.
