Woman admits flushing her newborn down the toilet
KUALA LUMPUR: A woman complaining of excessive bleeding to a doctor at a hospital here, has admitted giving birth recently and accidentally flushing her newborn baby down the toilet.
Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said the 28-year-old unmarried woman was brought by her family members to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre at 5am on Saturday after she complained of bleeding.
“A doctor who checked the woman suspected that she had given birth recently,” he said.
After the doctor alerted the police, the woman admitted to having been seven months pregnant and giving birth prematurely at her home in Taman Seri Sentosa, Jalan Klang Lama.
“She claimed that the child fell into the toilet and was accidentally flushed down,” ACP Wan Bari said.
Police have classified the case under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of a dead baby.
