SMRT's Euro V bus

SINGAPORE: Public transport operator, SMRT, will put on trial what it calls Southeast Asia's first full low-floor, easy access bus.

It said this will allow passengers to board and move to the back of the bus easily and quickly.

SMRT said the Euro 5 Mercedes-Benz Citaro O530 is also greener due to its greater fuel efficiency.

The bus can accommodate around 80 passengers and one passenger-in-wheelchair.

It will be put on the road for a one-year trial starting March 16 and will ply various trunk and feeder service routes.

Passengers are welcome to give their feedback to SMRT.

There are currently over 20,000 Citaro buses operating in major cities such as Madrid, London, Paris, Rome and Istanbul. - 938LIVE

it is for the wheelchair user. I seldom see wheelchair user using buses, because it is too much an hassle for them to take buses.
