Mahathir is brave and direct. Saying directly "bomb Singapore" is generally considered taboo; but then should he say "bomb the British Empire" - through a time-machine.
Maybe he should be smart,tackful and subtle...like the SG minister ...??? when Saddam Hussein attacked Kuwait:
