As a "hardcore" Eastsider, this is what I want to say.
1. During the major trains breakdown, it was SDP that asked the Transport Minister to cut short his trip overseas, shut down the train system, and do an inspection. They are not wild suggestions. It was sharing responsibility. Suggestions are not risk-free as they can go wrong.
2. During the haze crisis, it was SDP that asked the government to distribute the N95 masks. It was not a wild suggestion as they must have assessed the situation was getting bad. (There are a few doctors in that party.)
Why did SDP do nothing after that? Let me guess: there are 5 million people on this island and the national stockpile was only 9 million, less than 2 masks per resident. Going around distributing a few hundred masks was good politics but wayang. WP did that.
