Wife held for dumping hubby’s body
MALACCA: A 47-year-old woman has run foul of the law for trying to get rid of her 76-year-old husband’s body after he apparently died of an illness several days ago. The woman’s attempt to dispose of her husband’s body without a proper burial came to light after villagers, curious about not seeing the man, detected a foul stench coming from the undergrowth near the couple’s home. The body was found in a black plastic bag next to a gutter some 50m from the house in Kampung Solok Pantai, Batu Berendam, here yesterday morning.
State deputy CID chief Supt R. Gunarajan said initial investigations showed the husband died at least three days ago. “A villager told us that he saw the woman three days ago at the place where the body was found. “So we do not rule out the possibility that she may have been trying to dispose of the body,” he said, adding that police had picked up the woman for questioning.
He said police had yet to determine if the man suffered any injury. It is learnt that the husband, from Masjid Tanah, was a chronic diabetic patient and had to stop working as a food stall assistant about a month ago. The woman worked as a security guard. The couple had stayed in a rented home in the village for the past last five years.
