THE widow of the bridegroom found dead outside the Hilton Singapore hours after their wedding banquet last month was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital yesterday morning with cuts to both her wrists.
Police said they received a call at about 9.30am informing them that Ms Kerin Peh, 27, had been found injured at a flat at Block 30, Balam Road, where her parents-in-law live.
They have classified the case as an attempted suicide.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force received a call from one of Ms Peh's two sisters who were at the flat.
Paramedics who arrived shortly after found her unconscious on a bed in one of the rooms. Some unidentified pills were also found beside her.
Neighbours told The Straits Times that they saw three police officers entering the flat yesterday morning.
Ms Peh was warded at Tan Tock Seng Hospital's surgical intensive care unit. A spokesman said her condition was stable.
It was just over a month since Ms Peh and Mr Vernon Leong, 31, held their Nov 3 wedding banquet at the Hilton Singapore and their happy day turned into tragedy within hours.
In the early hours of Nov 4, Mr Leong was found dead on the driveway of the Orchard Road hotel.
What happened to him has remained a mystery.
The couple had a suite on the 10th floor of the hotel. Security cameras showed Mr Leong leaving the room at about 3am and rushing barefoot through the hotel's second floor. He was dressed in T-shirt and shorts and seemed to be in a hurry.
Eight minutes later, he was dead, and police said he had fallen from a height. It is not known how he fell or where he fell from.
Friends of the couple said yesterday that Ms Peh had been an emotional wreck after her husband's death, and family and friends had kept close watch over her.
She appeared more composed recently, they said.
Ms Peh, an IT product distributor, had quit her job a month before the wedding and was supposed to join a new firm but has yet to start work.
Mr Leong's business partner, Mr Gan Kow Meng, said yesterday that he and some other friends accompanied her on Sunday to the Bright Hill Columbarium where Mr Leong's ashes are kept.
He said she had been staying at her in-law's flat since her husband died, and her sisters would visit her there.
'She was chatty and cheerful and seemed okay when I saw her,' he said.
