Why such a hefty power bill?

IT IS a real enigma how SP Services calculates the utilities charges.
With the recent increase in utilities rates, my bill last month went up from $86 to more than $96; this is an increase of more than 11 per cent. I do not think the recent utilities rate increase is anywhere near 11 per cent or a double-digit percentage.
How could someone who lives alone in a three-bedroom HDB flat without any air-conditioning have racked up such an amount?
