why do singaporeans have this parochial outlook in life? blame it on the media.
no thanks to the media, who have been reporting bad stories about PRCs and Indians "FTs" in the papers, singaporeans have developed a stereotypical views of them.
surely with a combined population of 2 billions, we will have many cases of "bad" PRCs and and Indians "FTs" in our midst. But that doesn't mean all PRCs and Indians "FTs" are like that?
it is sad to assumed such because that will make singaporeans developed defensive attitude towards them and it doesn't help in the unity of the nation, where substantial of the population are foreigners.
furthermore with the competition of employment and public resources, such as transportation and housing, singaporeans are continued to feel threatened by the onslaught of foreigners. and it doesn't help by the media not reporting the full truth about the demands of the public resources in singapore and the employment situation in the country with regards to citizens and foreigners. govt should also create jobs for locals in addition to foreigners.
the aggressive policies of importing foreigners doesn't really help in the unity of a nation, making it a country just for people to stay temporary and leave for greener pastures elsewhere, like a hotel. where is the allegiance to our country? singapore has basically become a country to "make" money for them? where is the future in this?
it's very parochial to develop policies that will help to divide the country instead of uniting it, due to power consolidation purposes, such as divide and conquer for some individual.
if you want a sustainable country in development, policies must change, the media must also change.
