</TR><!-- headline one : end --><!-- show image if available --></TBODY></TABLE>
<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->IT HAS been almost two years since Tampines Town Council carried out a trial allowing cycling on footpaths.
However, there has been hardly any update on the trial or whether some positive outcomes have come about for such a practice to be adopted islandwide.
Despite reminders by the police that it is still illegal for cyclists to ride on footpaths, except in Tampines during the trial, many cyclists elsewhere continue to do so.
Many riders even behave as if they are in the right and pedestrians are in the wrong. You can now spot cyclists riding along corridors, five-foot ways, and even at pedestrian crossings.
Shouldn't cyclists approaching pedestrian crossings first dismount, and then push their bicycles across?
Can the authorities update us on the cycling trial in Tampines?
