I think it's necessary that they try to seek to form a government instead of working towards to get some seats in the parliament only.

If oppositions can present an alternative government that could be better than the PAP.

The people will naturally vote for the policies that will benefit them most. i really think the PAP is doing a very good job at pissing off the people right now.

Oppositions cannot do that unless it promises it can form the next government.

Only government can fulfill what the political parties promises during the election rally....

not just token sum of parliament members who can only talk cock and sing song during parliament sessions and have no voting powers over the policies changes

this is hard true fact.

As garment always give money before erections, OPPOSITION PARTIES should join hands and issue this statement:

"If OPPOSITION PARTIES form the next GARMENT, all CPF monies in Ordinary Accounts will be returned to ALL SINGAPOREANS immediately".

Like that, guarantee sure win.

The problem is that the oppo each have their own political views and policies and those conflict with each other. That is why beyond co-operating on what GRCs or single constituencies to challenge, they cannot present a unified front against the PAP.

The oppo parties need to sit down together and come out with a substantial common platform first. This is the platform that is agreeagble to all the parties and that will show the electorate that these guys are serious and have some good ideas. For example, the oppos can say they all agree to run on a platform of 1)Abolishment of NS, and the formation of a professional larger standing army 2) Review of the FT policy and a reversal of this policy if needed 3) Investigation into the loss of taxpayer money in GIC and Temasek, and conflicts of interests and corruption therein 4) Reduction in Military spending the largest single govt. expense. etc.

Beyond this platform, each party will have its own policies. They must also have in place a power sharing arrangement in case they win. ie which party wil hold the PM position and other portfolios or do they rotate the portfolios and the PM position.

For this coming election, I predict the 66% of PAP votes will drop to 56% if we only use the actual economic standing or his perception of it, as a voter as the single most important factor in the decision of vote.

I gauge that the top 40% will still vote PAP as they are still well to do or perceive themselves as well to do. However, those from the 41st percentile to the 66th percentile, there may actually be a decrease in their economic standing or the perception of it. Let's say half of this 26% vote opposition. This means there will be a shift of 13%. Hence 66% - 13% = 53%.

Howver, of the 33% poor, there may be a 3% change for those who move abit up the economic ladder.

Hence 53% plus 3% = 56%.

Seats don't know leh !!

2006 election, less than 30% of the voting population actually voted.

those who voted, 33% goes to opposition.

but opposition only occupied 2 of the 84 seats.

bunch of election cheaters..those PAP son of bitches.:D

PAP is playing with fire man....

Master of Mathematics! You do the sums...it doesn't turn out right!

Policy is probably the last problem.

There are so many ways, reasons and intentions of why people join parties, you'd be dreaming if you expect only one party other than PAP.

Go WP HQ and look for me on Monday evening (arrange and confirm appointment by PM first). You still owe me dinner. If you can't afford crab, it's OK, but don't be so cheap as laksa. At least turtle soup. :D
