When the MRT was first launched, there're a number of LED arrival time display panels spread out across the entire platform. Then some scholar replaced them with just 1 plasma display. Ang lagi worse, more time is spents on displaying ads than arrival time. Why is every Familee-controlled service so farking pathetic in Peesai despite the Peasants being made to pay a bomb for it?

SMRT says that timings for train arrivals at its MRT stations are shown on its plasma screens six minutes beforehand, so as to provide greater accuracy for its passengers on the timings.

This is in response to a STOMPer ahmeng’s contribution on the MRT plasma screens only showed the train arrival times six minutes beforehand, even for the last train.

In its email to STOMP today (Apr 21), a spokesman wrote:

“Passengers who wish to obtain information on the scheduled arrival time of the last train can refer to the notices located at the station entrance and the Passenger Service Centre.

“The plasma screens in our MRT stations display the arrival time of our trains six minutes prior to arrival and this applies for our last train service as well.

“This is to provide greater accuracy to passengers on the train timings, which may change due to actual conditions that could affect train schedules.”

STOMPer ahmeng, who was waiting for the last train to arrive at Somerset MRT Station on April 4, says that the digital display board did not show the arrival time for the train until the last six minutes before its arrival.

He wonders why there is a need to hide the timing for a train arriving in more than six minutes time and says that this inconveniences commuters who are intending on catching the last train home.

In an e-mail, STOMPer ahmeng says:

“I was at Somerset MRT at around 11:35pm on Saturday (April 4).

“The display panel did not display the timing for the train going towards Marina Bay.

“After waiting for around five minutes, the timing appears showing that the train would be arriving in six minutes.

“Why would they want to hide a timing that is more than six minutes? How would a person know if to continue waiting for the train or take a cab home instead?

“Do any other STOMPers face the same problem?”
