As we all know, new citizenships are given out freely like toilet papers. Some new citizens hardly know much about Singapore as compared to true borned Singaporeans. They probably come here to work for a year or two and than became PR before qualifying for new citizenship within a short span of times. PAP believe such generosity would earned them more votes from new citizens which may cast impulsive vote for PAP detrimental to Singapore. If Lee Hsien Loong demanded that Singpaoreans should have a day cooling period to prevent us acting impulsively, why is he so hasty to get new citizens to vote for him instead of allowing them to settle down before they are "matured" enough to think and vote?

Like we all said many times, PAP policies suck and kangaroo court is totally clueless while waiting for instruction to act unfavourably to Singapore

Proposal;

To become SINGAPORE PR, work in SGP with Work Permit for at least 5 years first... so that the cooling period is done first, and the would be Citizens would be initiated in the new environment.

Those who have spouse who is a Citizen could ignore this rule, and receive PR immediately, when there is a proof of marriage presented.

To become SINGAPORE Citizens, must maintain status as a PR for 5 years.

After the 5th year, to serve 2 years National Service Regardless of Sex, and Age. [Rationale, to instill a sense of belonging that Singapore is home, and National Service could be ranging from Military Clerks to Hospital Nurses to wherever their skills deem fit]

During 2 years of National Service to have probationary Citizen Status

Finally, after ORD, or ROD, or whatever, to award Citizenship Status.

Reason : To prevent fast conversion of PR to Citizen, so that when they have SGP Passport, they could convert into other Citizen of other nations.

To make sure that the PR converted into Citizens are truly loyal to the nation.

And to differentiate the difference between Citizen and PR Status.:cool:
