i watched a documentary yesterday entitled mega disasters and the topic was on global warming. it had described about how the current rise of temp in the ocean has affected the polar ice cap and some of the islands and coastal regions are facing massive erosion and floodings. Some of the islands in the pacific regions including the country of bangladesh and now part of queensland are constantly getting massive flood of biblical proportion.

and to think; sg as an island is only afew feet above sea level. with just a rise of 2-3 feet, most of the low lying regions will be drowned. Therefore, it make more sense to acquire properties that reside on a higher elevations.

I still prefer the OZ suburban lifestyle - no high-rise. This morning, I was in my backyard to enjoy the Great Aussie Outdoor.
I just bring my tea cup out with my morning papers. I can stay there for ages until the summer heat comes in about 10am.
At about 4pm, the summer heat will slowly dissipate with the cool sea breeze (called the Fremantle Doctor)
The aussie barbie is a tradition.
We can never replicate that in Singapore. What happened to the "Swiss" standard promise.

These birds are frequent visitors in my backyard. The overseas visitors always enjoy the stranges birdcalls such as the laughing kookaburra and this other "morning alarm" bird that has a sharp melody.

Flooding in Australia is not uncommon. It fills up Lake Eyre. (We studied this in Singapore schools) It is a curious phenomenon where the dry desert comes to life and there are bird species who only breed here. We are having serious flooding in Carnarvon now in WA! No international news report on this because it is not biblical (about the size of Malaysia ... only)

Added to this are the unreported floodings in Indonesia, South Asia (the big one in Pakistan) and the cold snap in the northern hemisphere.

If you watched Chinese Phoenix News Channel reporting, the news reporters commented about how lucky Queenlanders are, compared to Indonesia where the flood victims are left to their own.

We are in the midst of a global food crisis - just watch the news.Some countries are restricting export of food.
