Which part sounds funny?

Sounds pretty normal.. wait till you encounter a bird strike, engine surge, or engine flameout/shut down (no sound!)... then u will know what is funny (or more like scary)

the engines sounds like it is under alot of stress and its gonna break down soon.....

very unsettling every time i hear it..

Actually as it ascends to thinner air, you should feel more comfortable... less "stress". The engine performance is optimal at cruise, that is, when u're 30,000ft up in the air.

the phone is recording with inferior microphone
and maybe even undergo some sort of noise reduction or signal processing / compression.

very bad sound recording.

always sounded the same when you take this kind of plane donno if it's an Airbus 320 or Boeing 737, could be any engine types tough.....especially when it's climbing at maximum throttle....like the engine is gonna break if the max is set for long periods of time. sounds like it is under alot of stress. maybe the engines are aging or not maintained properly.

dun hear it on bigger planes such as 777 though...

Must be SILKAIR, a 2nd hand small plane. I remember that sound vividly when I sat near to its wings. I have to endure the two hours flight with that kind of loud engine whether the plane was ascending, descending or in the air. When I came out of the plane, I have suffered lost of hearings for at least half hour. Feel like sueing SIA.

Sounds like an Airbus with Rolls Royce engines.

sound of engine when you are in the front of the plane. and when the air is thick, near ground level.

it is quieter at the front of the jet engine, etc business class - first class.

this is normal.
