Only appears in the electronic copy of the 154th. To create false impression that Sporns dun care about Sporns winning and only support FTrash, thereby justifying the importing of more FTrash?

<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->CONGRATULATIONS to Laurentia Tan for winning her and Singapore's second medal at this year's Beijing Paralympic Games. I believe this makes her our most "decorated" Olympian thus far.
Her story is truly inspirational - how the institutions of the day "gave up on her", but the love, devotion and determination of her parents did not cease. I salute the family for their almost three decades of perseverance and tenacity to deliver to Singapore much cheer and inspiration.
How ironic, then, that with so much money going into sports, education and infrastructure in Singapore, a lot is still aimed at "abled athletes and students".
I think Laurentia should be and will be the poster child for a serious awakening in Singapore to providing much better care and support for the disabled, so that they too, with the proper educational, medical and institutional support, can develop and flourish like her.
The rallying theme in the United States as the Presidential race begins is "Change", and I think Singapore too needs to take a bolder step forward in this direction in support of individuals in this community. They do not need our sympathy, but they do need our support and encouragement.
It is time to see a quantum leap in this respect in Singapore and there is no better time than this as the nation celebrates our double Olympic medallist. Kenneth Tan

Private sector's rewards should only act as a bonus. Government should still hand out rewards (same amount as olympians'). It is still a world event, even without equal amount of media-coverage. Recognising their efforts and accomplishments is what all should do.
Hopefully the government will act accordingly.
[correct me if anything is wrong  ]

Anyway...
Congrats, Laurentia!! and all the participants and medalists!!!
Singapore is proud of u all!!!

Based on Chinese newspaper Zaobao, Pin Xiu managed to get the funding in the last minute to get the ticket to Beijing. Ironically, now, Sport Council lauded Paralympic Committee for making a "right decision".
Hello..this is Singapore hor!

1) The article on Pin Xiu's gold medal win can't be found at all on ST Interactive. Isn't this a big enough news to be carried on the online portal?

2) The blog section used to carry the Paralympic athletes' blogs, but it was taken down like 2 days ago, even b4 Pin Xiu's gold medal win or the end of the Paralympic games. I'm sure the athletes, with the end of all their events and awaiting the closing ceremony tomorrow, would want to share their thoughts and feelings of the games with their supporters here in SG.

I really am disappointed with the way ST is working.

And only three pages of comments here so far? What happened to all those self-declared "true Singaporeans" who insist they feel pride only when a fellow "true Singaporean" makes significant strides in sports? Is a Paralympic Gold meal not worth their time?
