SINGAPORE: The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) is having some 600 positions available this year, double that of last year.
ICA said the increased demand for recruits is due to the opening of the Jurong Scanning Centre and re-opening of Woodlands Checkpoint.
It aims to recruit 360 officers to help in border operations up from last year's target of 330.
New officers will also be taken in for its Anti-Smuggling Team, deployed to search for and detain suspected immigration offenders at sea.
Everyday, more than 400 boats enter Singapore's territorial waters. - CNA
