Slowly but surely others are chipping away at our air hub status and our highly paid administrators have no answers. In the north, what MAS could not do, Air Asia is doing it, helping to estd KL as an air hub. With more long haul kangaroo routes flights bypassing Spore, what answers have Singapore to this threat to hub status. None so far it seems. SIA market share too looks like diminishing. SIA depends plenty on this kangaroo route for their profitabilty.

Emirates is set to operate three weekly A380 services between Auckland and Dubai via Sydney from February 2 on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. With a connection to the existing A380 service from Dubai to Heathrow, Emirates will be the only airline able to offer the A380 all the way from Auckland to London. The Emirates A380 to New Zealand will offer a capacity of 14 first class passengers, 76 business class travellers, and 399 in economy class. The aircraft boasts exceptional fuel economy and will provide significant carbon emission reductions.
