Did you see any opposition politicians who took part in the last GE offering a helping hand to the affected minibomb investors ?

Singapore opposition politicians other than Mr Goh Meng Seng were largely missing during the minibond fiasco. In Malaysia, such a issue will be a gift from the heavens to be pounced on by every opposition party which will pour out money, resources and manpower to assist the victims.

Politics is all about perception and visibility. The more you are seen “serving” the people, the more votes you will get in future elections.

How do you expect Singaporeans to vote for the opposition when they are so media shy and are seen only to make a cameo appearance during elections? During the last election, the Workers’ Party was protrayed by the mainstream media in a rather positive light bar the unfortunate Gomezgate - Glenda Han, Lee Wai Leng, Perry Tong and Brandon Siow were all given personal interviews. Where are they now ?

Singapore’s opposition politicians must learn to be more media-savvy in order to raise their public profile and visibility. Otherwise, they will forever be living up to the PAP’s label of them being “opportunistic politicians who make an appearance only once every five years.”

bro, i think the gist of the article is for the opposition to make use of this saga to publicize and win for themselves precious goodwill and support from the community, but alas, they fail to make use of it.

I can only see one just cause for the opposition to be involved in this matter.

That is to expose the falsehood & caution against Irresponsible & Deception tactics used in marketing so called "investment products" by banks & brokers.

This may be done in the form of public education programs.

Personally I am against compensating "investment losers" with public / tax payers funds. I strongly believe it is very unfair to the public and tax payers if their funds were being paid out to compensate any "investment losers".

All these years these "investors" had been lucky opportunists taking free rides, and their gains are even tax-free if I am not wrong. Never will they share their gains with public, and they had fully claimed as well as enjoyed their "investments". I had for longest time told people not to believe in famiLEE LEEgime's hypes and economic bubbles as well as similar falsehoods, obviously these "investors" were too busy earning $$ to pay attention.

Why then when things went wrong they should be compensated with public funds? Even the banks are publicly owned, should the banks be handing out funds from other account holders to compensate these "investment losers"?

Will they ever learn their lessons if their losses can receive compensations from public funds?

It is not fair at all to transfer their losses to public and tax payers, who didn't undertake any risks, nor stand to gain anything.

It is a very naive idea of security or guarantee that had been a myth all these whiles.

Suharto's family, Thug-Sin & family, Myanmar's Junta, Myanmar's drug lord, organized criminals, Chen Shui Bian & family, Robert Mugabe, Wang You Zeng, many other corrupts and criminals with huge funds hiding and laundered in LKy's Crime & Corruption HUB.

Why is famiLEE LEEgime offering Singaporeans funds to guarantee these bastards?

In the financial crisis, what happened in e.g. Iceland caused panic & these fat cats (usually dirty cats) are uncomfortable to let LKy's shaky HUB hold their funds. LKy fear their funds being withdrawn, his empty pocket is unable to pay out. So he offered Singaporeans as guarantor to secure his big (mostly filthy) customers.
