Is germany successful due to cheap russian gas supplies.
Cut off the gas and mercedes, bmw, siemens, basf will lose out to their competitors. Was russia indirectly subsidising german's economy?
Maybe china getting same benefit from russian gas?

EU has decided to ban russian oil. That means their petrol/diesel costs will rise. The people will protest. Going for summer holidays will be expensive.

All you need is have the EU split up and implode. The EU is a toxic organization, if it no longer exists there would be no need to leave it.

I’ve heard about this ban from Day1 of the war. You mean it still hasn’t happened?

So the ban will begin end of the year it says.

Exemptions for Hungary, Slovakia, Czech and Bulgaria.

More likely it would self implode first before it split up. First to self-implode is the global Swiss-Franco-German industries that relies on Russian stockfeed. Energy is only part of the game. Much of the gas also feed into thier highly integrated agro-pharmaceutical complex.
Decimation of middle-income group in the EURO region would hollow out everything thier forefathers build in the past few centuries. The plebian then finally rise up and attack the corrupted institutions.

So the ban will begin end of the year it says.

There is an old Chinese sayings - Dont just listen what they say, watch out what they actually do.
Biden administration actually allows the private American firms to ramp up energy import while at the same time become the cheerleader in the calling for EU sanction against Ruskie.

Europeans looking more and more like suckers with this event. And US gaining in all matters. Including trying to force Russia into insolvency.

EU has decided to ban russian oil. That means their petrol/diesel costs will rise. The people will protest. Going for summer holidays will be expensive.

1. Germany is the leading nation in EU. It can't afford to be held hostage by others over issues, more so on resources when alternatives can be found, because when integrity to uphold common values from a leader can be compromised, then every uttered word, let alone promises, will be suspect. RUS is not the only nation in the World to produce & trade its oil resources. Many other nations do the same. The difference may lay in its quick delivery, thru pipeline, but the cost of oil is NOT cheap, only similar with other nation's trade on open market prices. Germany has its own stockpile, & delivery by ship on a continuous basis will ensure the same delivery time. And also, need not trade its EU dollars for RUS Rubles to buy gas from RUS anymore.

2. Germany, an advance nation, does not merely depend on RUS gas for its energy needs. It has its own nuclear power stations spread out in the country to supply electricity for its industrial & home needs.

3. For those who can afford mercedes, bmw, etc, they will not even bother with a few cents or dollar rises. It will be the common folk whom will feel the pain. However, fortunately, Germany is one of the forefront campaigners in EU to save our planet thru climate change. Tesla had proven their cars need no fuel & it is high time for the Germans to make that switch from combustion engine cars to electric cars, to save our World, and to save their wallets as well, with more savings for OktoberFest. Although electric cars need to be electrically charge, with electricity coming from burning of fossil fuels, again - it is fortunate that Germany mostly uses nuclear power to generate electricity for its needs, thus little need for fossil fuels.

4. Modern day Germans know their history well - invasion of others land, the lies, the sacrifices, & the subsequent consequences, & can foresee the future days to come for both RUS & UKR. Thus their support for peace, rather than to be compromised by lies & relive those dark days in the 40s by dictators. Their economy will not be hit hard, as there are ALTERNATIVES to gas & wheat from Russia, at times even cheaper than from RUS.

5. The loss to RUS will be great, as 2/3 of its clients come from EU. The depreciation of its ruble will start, if not happening now. Worse to come, it would had lost its customer base & market share, not just for now while it conducts its military campaign in innocent UKR, but even when the war is over as EU would had found alternatives & need not even deal with RUS on economics level.

6. It will hurt RUS more than it will hurt EU or Germany, if RUS continues on its campaign in UKR, loss of precious priceless Human lives on both sides, infrastructure damage, etc, & especially its own standing the World that had welcomed RUS when it emerged from its own iron curtain, & was thought that it wanted to engage constructively in World affairs, but sadly, it did not. But it is still not too late for President Putin to wake up to realities NOW, to make that change. The Swiss-well known for being neutral & honest brokers of peace, can help to bridge the gaps in negotiations for peace & end of the sanctions, which will help progress not just President Putin, but for his weary RUS people - our fellow Humans, as well.

German has shut its nuclear plant snd will continue to do so after witnessing fukushima.

Germany today faces a stark choice for solutions to its energy needs - to be held hostage forever by foriegn energy suppliers often motivated by political ambitions

Or

To restart the remaining 14 nuclear power stations out of 17 stations with better mgmt & safety protocols & have its own independence, besides researching for better & greener renewable energy sources.
