A lot of people like you mistaken that National Day is Singapore's birthday, and wishes Singapore Happy Birthday ......... this is very wrong.

I do not blame anyone for this mistake because the media made it such that Singapore is only 55 yrs-old, and the success of this nation is all because of one old man.

To put the record straight, Singapore has been around since Sir Stanford Raffles's days, so by right, Singapore is 100+ yrs-old already.

National Day is actually Singapore's independence day, not a "birthday".

Many friends can't be bothered about national day.They have left on Friday night flights to Genting,BKK ,PP or HCM.U are one lucky guy.Enjoy your overseas holiday trip !

Honestly, what's so great about National Day ???

There is nothing like a place called home where you can live in peace, harmony and prosperity.

We used to have that, together with a generation of leaders who are daring and innovative, who exercised their imagination to bring forth this home. We also used to have an opposition leader of integrity and committment.

National Day is therefore a day for us to affirm our wishes for this country. Like it or not, so long as we remain citizens, our livelihood is tied to our leaders' capabilities and to a much lesser extent, to the wannabe leaders in the opposition.

So what's so great about National Day? It is great because this country represents our hopes and therefore let's make this a better country for ourselves. How can we do it? There are really many many ways.
