Today I saw the news report that our founding father, Minister Mentor Lee Kwan Yew, has less facebook "likes" than Nicole Seah.

I had it up to here with this election bullshit.

I get it that people have different idealogies when it comes to government. If you think opposition will do better than the PAP, so be it. If you think the PAP is too smug and needs to be pushed into harder work by knowing that their position is not a given, I cannot argue with you. You unhappy your housing too expensive, ok fine.

But what I cannot stand is how the elections have shown how horribly ungrateful and thankless Singaporeans are.

No matter what a shitty job the PAP is doing now, it remains that a lot of their members have dedicated a big part of their lives to building everything we have today.

It is thanks to them that we are the number 1 most uncorrupted country in the WORLD. We have absurd safety around the island. Our children are all ensured, at the very least, some education.

So no matter how unhappy you are now, what's with the snide remarks, the insults, the twisting of the PAP's words into evil connotations, the yelling during their rallies? Really? Papsmear? Childish! Just go vote for opposition lah talk so much for what?

Alright enough ranting about PAP vs the Opposition. Whatever. Let's agree to disagree.

I'm now talking about Nicole Seah VS MM Lee.

Yes yes she is the voice of all the poor Singaporeans who have their woes ignored by the evil government.

But why should she deserve for FB Likes than MM Lee? I know, FB Likes don't mean anything. But I'm just irrationally annoyed. MM Lee dedicated his whole life to building Singapore to where it is today, and this is the thanks he gets from Singaporeans?

That they'd rather pledge loyalty to some advertising chick who has not done anything for Singapore yet?


Back from back in 1951, SIXTY freaking years ago when he looked like this:

He has served our country...

He led us through our separation from Malaysia, which worried him so much he fell sick shortly after. And even though we are a minute country with no natural resources, transformed us to one of the most cosmopolitian countries in the world.

Think Singapore is over-populated? Thank him, he discouraged our parents from giving birth to more than 2 kids each, or the situation would have been even worse.

When Singapore was faced with political corruption, he gave the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau more power and upped the pay of ministers and judges for an honest, clean government. It worked.

He encouraged Singaporeans to learn English, which we are now using to criticise his every move.

And throughout his life he is relentlessly worrying, planning and working for a better Singapore.


Till today when he is THIS old man:

If you are so old and your wife just died would you still care about your country's welfare??

AND YET HOW DO YOU GUYS REPAY HIM?

I don't care how you vote or how you feel towards the government.

But you cannot deny our MM Lee of his contribution to Singapore - so please, SHOW SOME RESPECT.


How shameful and hurtful is it for him to see that Nicole Seah has more support from Singaporeans than him?

So many times we hear this song and litany about LKY being the only man responsible for what Singapore is today. LKY transformed a swamp into a thriving city state. If not for LKY we all would be dead or starving etc etc etc etc.
Not that I have any gripe about him, but this type of talk is sickening. Are we saying that these people contributed nothing at all. From the constant propaganda barrage of the PAP, it appears that these people do not count or do not even exist in front of LKY.

It is as if Singapore was a marsh land full of swamps and aligators till LKY took it and converted it singlehandedly. What a myth and falsehood these PAP propaganda has successfully spread around all these years.

Singapore has been a thriving port city for a long time without any PAP rule. Its citizens were entrepreuners all the way and over time they would continue to make Singapore thrive, without the PAP or LKY.
That is for sure. The people can and will do that. I am sure of that.
Maybe Singapore would have had a more relaxed and less orderly life style than now, but the people would be definitely not starving and
be coolies.

In fact, there are so many good men or caliber around that time, that they would have led Singapore, if no LKY was around. But somehow these people all vanished into the horizon and we hear only the name of LKY and his PAP all the time.

Take Monaco. A city state smaller than Singapore. Till end of WWII the place was a barren land, with drug peddlers and smugglers infesting it.

Today , this gleaming city state has a per caita income the highest in the world and 3 times higher than Singapore.
Who made that city so successful ?. It was Onasis, the greek ship builder who was the advisor to the king of Monaco. Now Onassis was a womaniser, drunk and a gambler. So how come without all those essential virtues which LKY keeps harping on, did Onassis build up Monaco to this high level of economic development ?.

Think about it. A nation can look after itself and the people will build the nation one way or the other. If these was no this leader, then there would be another leader to channel them forward. The society will throw up the leader , like in any democratic country.

That is why LKY does not allow democracy in Singapore. He wants all the power to himself and make sure that the society does not produce another leader, better than him to take the lime light and also his absolute power hold. He usurped power by extolling the virtues of democracy and then once in power, he subverted all the democratic principles to suit his style of working.

Singapore has truly become a 'sycopants paradise'.

Singapore has paid Harry and his family in more ways than I can mention for what he did to Singapore. The many things named in his honour, the kind of security he and his family enjoy, the $million salary he gets and other form of goodwills. I can think of no other country that allows an elected leader to enjoy a life which is very much like that of a Royalty.

The pap multi$million government has held Singaporeans accountable for the minutest thing, so is it wrong to question their leader for something which is way out of the ordinary and involves hundreds of thousands if not million $?

Singaporeans have been indoctrinated for far too long that it is all right to accord special priviledges to their leaders. I am glad that more and more Sporeans are starting to held our govt accountable for their actions. Remember how Koh Beng Seng and Richard Hu brought up the issue of discount given to the Lee's in the case of Nassim Jade and Scotts 28. God knows whether Harry originally intended to pay or did he decided to pay after the public outcry. Afterall the discounts were returned after public outcry.

The recent incidents only shows how much out of touch the pap leadership are with the actual situation on the ground.

Give Singaporeans a break. They can and will survive with or without LKY or for that matter any indispensable leader. Because no one is and shall be indispensable.

Singapore was the most important colony of the British in the Far East since the time of Stamford Raffles. It did suffered from lawlessness and rampant crime rates in the early days but after 1900s, it was the crown jewel of the British in the East. That is why the British their largest eastern naval base in Singapore after WWI.

Malacca and Penang were reduced to mere backwaters and Singapore was the no 1 among the these 3 colonies that formed the Straits Settlements. British placed the most emphasis in the Straits Settlement followed by the southern and central Malays States like Selangor and Pahang followed by the northern and eastern states like Trengganu, Kedah and Kelantan.

So other than a naval base, the best infrastructure and resources were given to Singapore. The best people were here too because it was the political and cultural centre of the British in Malaya.

Naturally, Singapore was poised to succeed ahead of these after independence.
You do not even have start comparing Singapore with the Dutch East Indies or the Philippines under the Spanish. Their colonial masters were only interested in exploitation.
