What must PAP do to restore their brand name to its former glory?

Get rid of the Lee family in Singapore politics and in GLCs. Easy. But wait for Lee Kuan Yew to meet Gecko first.

The lost of its former glory is irreversible. Reason: MIWs can never face their mistakes or give up their self-made superiority. It is too entrenched. I don't believe a shit about PAP "reform". It can only be forced to reform from external forces, ie Opposition

It is possible. But they need replace a large number of their current MPs and allow them to contribute constructively, for those who have brains in the first place. The current group have been selected because they are pliant and obedient. They pose little threat to LKY. Singapore has more than enough dedicated talent in Singapore. If the opposition can find so many so quickly, I cannot see why PAP with all its fixing and probing machinery cannot do so in the last 50 years.

Their name is m&d now from the view of most citizens. They lost credibility now that many grievances against them has been aired during the elections and everyone is aware of their dirty tactics. Putting TPL and allowing her to remain as MP foretells the impending demise of the PAP. She will be the one that will bring PAP down like a house of cards. The sour sentiments on the ground is still simmering as Joo Chiat and PP should be won by the Opposition and the will of the electorate has not been fulfilled as they only have 6 MPs to represent them in Parliament against 81 PAP candidates.

Nicole Seah has put paid to the PAP's propaganda that it is very difficult to get top talents to enter politics. The handsome salaries they paid themselves has reach breathless heights and will never come down despite the many screw-ups. The Hard Truth is that the PAP can lay claim that they have 60% support of the people, but the reality is the opposite. The many advantages they had over the oppositions plus the obstacles placed to thwart them may "legitimately" confirm PAP won the support, but if there had been a level playing field, the results will be vastly different and the opposition would have won by a fairly good margin.

Mark my words.

40% could have easily translated to 10-20 opposition seats. But gerrymandering to the maximum managed to contain the damage to its limits. However, another 5% more next election, if the 200-300K citizens do not come into the equation, is devastating. Those elected on the PAP side may turn.

They wanted a mandate, they got a warning instead

There is no more stopping it. The tide has turned against the PAP and they seemed unaware or refused to acknowledge despite George Yeo confirming it. Now their every statement is being scrutinised and commented upon. The citizens are watching their every word and action from now on.

The tide is turning, you are right. Considering that WP's Aljunied's loss was 40% in 2006, turning into a 60% win in 2011, I foresee those GRCs that lost out closely will have plenty of hope to cross the 50% mark in 2011.

What the oppo needs is a good campaign manager, someone like David Plouffe to overturn the stranglehold of the whites. The oppo needs a revamp in image, substance and style. Young voters constitute 1 in 4 this time. They ARE looking for style, substance and image in 2016.
