Man molests 9-year-old at shopping centre toilet

SINGAPORE - A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old boy inside a male toilet of a shopping mall along Rivervale Crescent on February 19.
The police received notice of the incident at about 1.30pm on February 21 and apprehended the suspect within four hours of the report being made.
The suspect was caught after the police examined the CCTV footage at the shopping mall and managed to establish the identity of the molester.
He was then arrested in the vicinity of the shopping mall at about 5.30pm on February 21.
Investigations are still on-going.
Under the law, an act of outrage of modesty carries an imprisonment term of up to five years, fine, caning, or any combination of the three.
The police advised parents to maintain a close watch over their young children in public places, and to make a police report immediately if they suspect a crime has been committed.
