I'm thinking of going to Sapporo for the first time. For those who have been there before, where would be a good spot to start ?

November is very risky. Usually the beginning of winter storms (in beginning by end-Nov) which closes roads and airport.

Hokkaido is more beautiful that Switzerland if you know where to go. There are also AMDK architecturals that look splendid after snowing.

The best time to go is in end-Jan, early Feb when is not so freezing cold and snows have not start melting.

If you really want to experience 'Switzerland' in Japan, go to the Toyama prefecture, the Kurobe Dam Alpine region.

I plan to go in the first week of November. It's just beginning to snow, I hope.

Low risk for beginning of Nov winter storm. Of course, i hope u get a little snowing so that hakodate will look more beautiful.

Eat more seafood too, otherwise will regret when u return to sg.

I try not to move around hotels.

Do you think I should stay near Sapporo train station or Odori station ? Or better still, spend all my time at Hakodate ?

er... bro, choosing just Sapporo or Hakodate is very boring. Maybe u just need 1 night in Hakodate or 2 nights in Sapporo.
Hokkaido is a damn large place, u should travel a bit further to explore. If you prefer to stay within a city, eg Sapporo, near train station, maybe u should choose Osaka or Taipei. Got more things to do.

Let me recall...

Tomita Farm in Furano, trying the lavender ice cream in the snow was a great experience, your ice cream wouldn’t melt at all.

Lake Toya is a good place to rest the weary soul, a couple of hotspring bath houses around there.

Hakodate, quite scenic, can take quiet walks near the port, eat shio ramen.

forget about the foxes and bears in winter :coffee::coffee::coffee:
