How come he all of a sudden just quit like that? Chief Guards Officer and Chairman of NDP committee, top of his game. Scandal or personal reason? Did not hear anything about the real reason.

Don't know how true but some guess that he could be one of that 60 cheongster that were caught having a leg with an underage FL.

any clues anyone??

As far as I know, he called an emergency meeting of the 2012 NDP Planning committee and told them he was quitting on the spot for personal reasons. But what the personal reason is, no one knows. Of course, Shit Times does not know the meaning of investigative journalism. So, its up to us at sammyboy to find it out.

This case is highly secretive. Until today, there seem to be no leakage about the real reason why he quitted the SAF. It's a straight fight between a scandal(chicken or corruption) or very grave illness within the immediately family. I personally think that it could be a scandal. For if it's just a grave illness within the family, he could have just step down from NDP and still keeps his army post.

yeah, I agree with your analysis. Must be scandal or corruption. Seems to be forced to resign rather than voluntarily. If its illness to himself or family, can take compassionate leave or LOA. No need for resignation, and throw away almost 20 year career. Fucking Gay Loong and his more transparency promise.

Those coloured transparent papers we used for art when we are young are TRANSPARENT also, that is the kind of transparency that ASS LOON is telling you, of course you can see, SHADOWS!:D

Sorry, they are not transparent. They are translucent. Big difference.

No...........

If you're very sure its not for that reason, then do you know the real story?

It could be anything. But I'm more inclined to think, like some of the others here, that is could be something more than a family or personal illness. He could have just stepped down from the Nat Day committee and retain his position within the Army if it was so.

Anyway, a senior figure quitting as Chairman of the Nat Day organising comittee and quiting his SAF post is not a private matter and should be explained by the government.
Silence makes it worse. By the way, Straits Times....good job in maintaining that silence. Must be the only paper in the world that has to bribe people with a gold bar to read it!

Correct. After NDP, automatic star and promo to BG. He can resign at that point, and maybe get a better pension. I think he already put in 20 years? Since he is a very public and high profile figure, it should be revealed why he resigned. I think he himself should come out and tell everyone, regardless of whether the PAP told him to shut up or not.

I don't think it was for womanizing either. Winston Choo was the biggest buaya around and everyone just turn a blind eye.

Is he a candidate to take over at SMRT?

Or did he have a disagreement with a big shot becos of NDP?

No, if he is planned for CEO at SMRT, or PAP candidate for Hougang, etc. his leaving of MINDEF would have been much smoother and the transition much easier. Not like this very abrupt way.

If he had problems with NDP, than why take the post? If he had a problem with NDP, than resign from NDP, but keep his Col. position and stay in the SAF.

It goes to show the kind of disrespect the FAP has for SGs - they feel no need for accountability at all!

If he is slated to run for hougang, surely they would have promoted him to a BG then announce his candidacy. After all, a BG rank certainly looks better than 3 crabs. I would say that he was forced to resign over a very big scandal.

Neither scandal or corruption. Taking responsibility for some messiness. No worries, govt will fix something up for him. Recent happenings sealed his fate. Could have swept this under the carpet but govt not prepared to take this risk.

Boss, at least give us some ideas lah...don't keep us guessing please. Hehe.

So it boils down to either scandal or coruption . Now where's the farking transparency and accountability that the PAP have been trumpeting ?
