SIA doesn't allow me to amend flight date to return for family member's wake

STOMPer YiHua is disappointed that Singapore Airlines will not make an exception and amend her flight date so that she can get back to Singapore in time to attend a family member’s wake.

In an email to STOMP today (Feb 4), the STOMPer says:

“I took a flight from Singapore to HK last evening and upon arrival, I received news that a close family member had passed away.

“I tried calling the reservations line to ask if I could change the flight back so as to be able to attend the wake.

“I understand that the terms and conditions of my air ticket state that I cannot make any amendments to the flights. One of the staff kept repeating that to me.

“Yes, I understand perfectly well that the terms and conditions are such but what happened is something unexpected and very sad.

“I hope that Singapore Airlines can be more understanding and make an exception to allow me to amend my air ticket this once so that I can rush back in time for the wake to pay my last respects.

“It is really very upsetting when you are overseas, calling back to your home country, looking for help and sympathy, and the person you talk to can only repeat the terms and conditions of your fare, even to the extent of reading it out word for word to you.

“I am already very frustrated that I am stuck in HK when news of the death reached me, and when I called for help, it is even more disappointing and frustrating that I get such responses.

“I sincerely hope that SQ can allow me to amend the flight timing out of goodwill to allow me to be in time to pay my last respects.”

Really a cheapskate. Pay the difference immediately.

Somehow I do not think average Singaporeans are not streetsmart in situations like this. The folks who chopped seats at the foodcourts just don't have the intellectuality to think in situation like this because they were not taught in school. And what really gets to me is the Ang Moh's bogeyman, as per the title of the thread. Maybe if you fly and Ang Moh's airlines, they will be far more sympathetic and possibly throw in a return ticket FOC.

If only deaths could be postponed, these type of people will be very happy and felt well served.

who ask her father is not LKY?
if not, SIA would ready a A380 in double quick time just soley for her to get back.
