What if luckily PAP is been voted out this election, Can current opposition candidate have the ability to form a government? Please suggest who can fit into which ministry and who should be the PM?

Of cos we do not need MM and SM, please do not suggest who have ability to take this place.

Not likely to happen, opposition will gain more ground this GE, make some waves but no tsunami yet

Sylvia Lim though would be interesting as Singapore's first opposition female PM

If PAP was voted out there is the real civil servants to guide the new MPs through the process, not to worry so much. Who will be the PM will be nominated by those elected MPs. A Chinese saying when a ship reaches the harbour it know how to park itself.

SL & LTK are fortunate they have a Zhuge Liang to assist them this time....... this master strategist is none other than their own Chen S M........ he handled the WP's planning for this GE.

There's no need at all to "invite" any pap candidates to help form the government.
Running a country is not brain surgery or rocket science or quantum physics. It does not require large amounts of technical ability or knowledge or even extraordinary intellect. What is required is a certain amount of intellect and lots of common sense, rational thinking and empathy/compassion. Of couse, the latter quality is very much lacking currently.

American presidents have ranged from peanut farmers to actors. Even in SG, the cabinet is made up of a host of career soliders and bureaucrats who have not even run a provision shop before. Some of them are not exactly the most intellectual either. Even if you become a ministar and you do nothing, the ministry and the country will still run as always. What they do is deal with a lot of yes or no decisions, or take path A or B, neither of which is likely to ruin the country. There's already a whole host of professionals and experts who are employed to help the government run things.

The oposition candidates at the moment are more than capable of forming the government and running the country. At the very least, they won't lose out where it comes to compassion and empathy for ordinary people. That's a great start in my opinion.

This is not possible, at least for now after so many years of tight grip by PAP. The most PAP gets is losing a few seats and a slip in the percentage of votes. In any case, opposition is just as good as anyone from PAP, if not, better. If the current incumbent can run the country like that, I see no reason how could the opposition do any worse. I only see arrogance and ego at work when we see ruling party ministers side-stepping serious issues by totally dismissing the cries and pleas of the people with absurd stories of how their policies were able to propel the country. I really urge Singaporean to steel their heart and vote for a change. We have given enough of many 5 yrs to some party that repeatedly failed us. If we could spare them 5 yrs chance, definitely we could spare some new and passionate candidates a 5 yrs chance too. We still can throw them off if they prove to be non-genuine. We are not obsessed with change but it will and has to come naturally when the conditions call for it. I think it is now - 7 MAY, Singapore's 'Independence' Day!

a good point to moot during the rallies. other than Dr Lily Neo, can't think of any MIW whom showed compassion.

I don't want a complete change overnight, we are talking of the whole of Singaporean's interest here. We need a team to go inside first. The purpose of this is first to find out the complete transactions of "Temesek" & balancesheet. Get the show run by a real efficient team. We don't need the first lady in it. We need someone with a clean & good & efficient background in financial services. The truth no matter what have to be publish.

If that happened we need to prevent all the 80 MPs from leaving the country temporally until an investigation had cleared them on all matters. It is like a clearance procedure (no special treatment, including the great MM Lee)

You are painting an unrealistic picture

For a city-state, you need someone who have connections all over the world
The only way to ensure that is a Harvard/Oxford/Stanford degree

Obviously, you have no fucking clue how connections are built.

For Singapore's system to work, you need 2/3 of the seats to go to different parties. Having an opposition without the ability to stop/veto a policy from being implemented is useless. Those who follows parliament closely know how hard the WP and NMP (even some PAP MP) raised questions on key policy but they get pushed through anyway.

My only worry is what trick the government will play if this truly happen. Send in the army perhaps?

True, this party will not throw in the towel that easily. They would set a series of counter-measures procedures like used by the war teams (deathcon 1..5) The worse is to rig votes. Remember, this is an autocratic government & would do anything, anything to remain in power.

i dont think the opposition is incapable of forming a new govt. the option to form coalition govt (like what happen in UK) is there, and it seems to be 1 of the strongest means to unseat the incumbent. but, this would mean that upon unseating the incumbent, the coalition must ensure that they don't follow the footsteps of the prev govt. they must change from the MIW ways, and put the national interest before their own pocket's interest.

doing away with the absurb salaries of ministers (especially redundant ones, eg: minister(s) without portfolio) is a sure way to win the hearts of voters.

The problem with the opposition is they can't agree on anything. Heck they can't even agree with themselves. It's far more likely a strong opposition has to emerge then them forming a coalition
