These red, itchy and swollen bite marks on the palm of her husband's hand were caused by an unknown insect at Orchard MRT station, says STOMPer Serene.
She says:
"My hubby was at Orchard Mrt waiting for our friends on December 24, at 1.45pm.
"He was sitting at the stone platform opposite the Ez-Link card top up station towards the direction of the new ION building.
"He suddenly felt his palm itching and he kept scratching.
"15 minutes later, the irritation on his palm became worse and he felt something biting on his palm non-stop.
"He stood up and looked around at the stone platform and realised there were lots of small brown unknown insects crawling in between the whole stretch of the platform.
"His palm became numbed, red, swollen,and itchy on the bitten area, and yet to recover after a few days.
"We lodged a complaint on the cleanliness around the waiting area to the station manager and went off.
"We were at Orchard MRT station today and found that those brown insects were still crawling around the same area and there were people and parents with kids sitting around the area.
"Just want warn those people that are always hanging around Orchard MRT station on this above mentioned issue and especially parents with kids.
"Avoid sitting around that area and look around before sitting down as you never know if those insects are harmful or not.
"We were disappointed with the cleanliness that was maintained by SMRT and upset about this incident as it happened on Christmas Eve."
