Peasants superstitions inherited
So sad that english speaking western educated sinkies inherited the peasants superstitions from our peasants forefarthers who came from China got stucked here in Singapore.
During the recent hungry ghosts festivals, our country's pristine air was polluted by superstitious sinkies burning papers as offering to "ghosts" who were released during this time.
Who came up with the idea that ghosts can become hungry? Hungry can only happen if you have a human like digestive system, which will react with our nervous system and send messages to our brain. But ghosts don't have all these physical attribute and to be hungry for them is highly impossible. Furthermore how could papers be translated to money. Who established that a financial system has been setup in Hell that requires the needs for monetary exchange? Why is there a need to have money if phyiscal things doesn't exist?
For China, all these old supersitious have been eliminated during the cultural revolutions, as many of these old practises came from the countryside in China, and they are just merely peasants supersitious.
It is unfortunate that our forefathers brought all these supersititions to our country, and their children has to follow this age old tradition.
Spore being world crass, and world travel, and could speak an "Western" language, it is unfortunate that the age old traditional supersitions remained. What a bummer.
