Wayangs On Nomination Day

Come Wednesday 27 Apr 2011 is Nomination Day!
Having watched NDs from the late 1960s, I can safely predict a few things of opp candidates who get cold feet at the last moment.

a) Wrong/inaccurate filling of nomination forms leading to immediate disqualification.

b) Opp candidate turning up late at the Nomination Centre.

c) Opp candidate turning up at the wrong Centre.

d) Opp candidate not bringing along sufficient money ($16K) for deposit.

e) Opp candidate's proposer and seconder failing to turn up in time.

f) Opp candidates "quarreling" and disagreeing among themselves and leaving the Cenre in a huff without filing their nomination papers.

g) Earmarked opp candidates suddenly falling sick and admitting themselves into a hospital on the eve of ND.

Maybe there could be newer strategies now. Just watch the show.

You are talking of the twilight of a Lee kuan Yew era. Here we are talking of the dawn of a New Future in where PAP Ministers can't talk with their dicks hanging out of their pants without being ridiculed and voted out!

What I had predicted had come to pass. History has repeated itself, this time in Tanjong Pagar.

A team hoping to stand against the Minister Mentor and his team was to have included Socialist Front chairman Ng Teck Siong and Singapore Democratic Alliance assistant secretary-general Nazem Suki.
The team had intended to contest as a group of independents.
But it was not to be.
This is because the team was unable to submit its nomination papers on time.
