Serious Watch out there are thieves even in NTUC

I was just a victim of a crime. While I was shopping at an NTUC & I left my basket unattended on the floor to weigh some produce & when I turned around my basket was gone

I was really angry because in the basket I had left some packed hawker food. Not just any hawker food stuff but food that I made a special trip to Albert Food court to get. The theft left me angry & hungry :(

Never happened to me before. There must be very desperate people out there to do such a thing. So watch out.

Fairprice don't allow outside food to be brought in to compete and distract customer
from purchasing their lousy house brand, outside food especially those with strong
and appetizing hawker aroma would entice customers to leave fairprice in search of the hawker food.

Did you approach the manager and ask for a capture of the CCTV ? If they refuse, then tell them you are going to report the matter the police. The police will retrieve the CCTV recordings in any case.

I don't mind if the food was taken by some hungry person but the thief may have been an opportunist who was looking for something valuable to steal. He/She may not have not known that there was only food in the bags.

Didn't report the loss to NTUC because it was only hawker food but it would be a waste if the thief didn't like what I bought :o
I'm really shocked by the experience because I never expected my meal to be stolen. Especially in an NTUC of all places. I think it must have been an auntie who stole it because there were more females around.

I didn't think of that but I doubt there are any cameras in the produce section. If they have any cameras it would probably be in the more expensive sections e.g. wine, beer, ...

The rojak is from a stall that was previously located at Waterloo Street.

Unfortunately I have to limit my visits because the hawkers use too much msg & the food I like has too much carbohydrates :(

If you believe there is a 3rd dimension in life, don't brood over the stolen food. Think of it this way, something spiritual is at work to bless you and the food is probably not meant for your consumption, on that particular day, and from the place where you bought it.

You should count your blessing that you live in such a safe place like sg that your meal never got stolen before. Between, it is very ungentlemanly of you to blame any auntie just because there's more of them around.

The CCTV installed in NTUC is to stop thief from stealing the items from NTUC. Never thought that it is meant to catch customer steal from another customer.

Anyway, it is only packet food. For all you know, the thief may be suffering from diarrhea now after eating the stolen food.

i normally pooper-scoop my pup's poop into a small plastic bag, tie it, and carry it around in an ntuc basket while looking for snacks and treats. if someone were to steal it, i would get pissed too.

I try to do my grocery shopping during the non-peak hours when it is not so crowded. A time when the younger crowd are working. So at that time I'd say that about 80% of the customers were older females, the auntie variety. So my accusation is from how things were on that day & nothing to do with being a sexist.

I wouldn't say I was lucky that it has never happened to me before because I am usually cautious about looking after my belongings. I had done a quick scan to ensure my basket was secure before turning around to weigh the bananas.

Spore has changed for the worst & nowadays you can't assume that it is safe anywhere. Someone related an experience that they had with their bicycle. 1st someone stole the passenger seat that was installed behind the rider. Then later someone stole the bicycle seat Maybe it was Sammy

Am I being whiny? I thought I was just gossiping or sharing? I don't get robbed everyday & so this is a novel experience for me.
