I was chatting with a pro-PAP diehard supporter. We chatted with respect to the recent BBC world news report on SG's tarnished image caused by the PAP's unsuccessful fight against COVID-19.
The supporter simply stonewalled himself against the BBC's report, claiming that the BBC is a foreign entity, and the UK itself is in a bad shape in its fight against COVID-19.
This is how the PAP operates - it is non-receptive to counter views, and only pretentiously chooses to believe that its views are legitimate.
Such a political party like the PAP will refuse to work with counter parties for the wellbeing of the nation and its people.
In maintaining that attitude, a party like the PAP would inevitably end up, either deliberately or by default, placing its own interest, pride and ego, above all else, including the interest of the people and the nation.
And this is what has just happened, and is happening, to SG, in the handling of COVID-19.
The PAP refused to be receptive to alternative views on handling COVID-19.
Instead, the PAP had wanted to exploit COVID-19 outbreak to secure for itself another term of 5 years in power. And hence, it took steps that would appear to entice the people by limiting its handling of COVID-19 to ways that made the PAP look smart, ready and capable to handle the situation by setting up a multi-ministerial panel, and playing to the convenience of the people. This was its strategy at the home front (although it has since backfired at the people).
At the same time, the PAP launched a public relations campaign resulting in false and premature accolades from the WHO leader who claimed that SG practised the gold standard in the fight against COVID-19; Streisand throwing her kiss of love at PM Lee; a hastily arranged interview with the famed CNN interviewer, Fareed Zakaria; a random article by Anna Jones of BBC / Sky News praising SG's handling of COVID-19; and not to mention, the local media's profiling of the "Big Success" story of Lawrence Wong. (This too has backfired, but in a global way and that too on the PAP's global image.)
What is the situation of the COVID-19 spread now and in realty?
Singapore and its PAP gov have failed in all its work to control the spread. The PAP gov has thus far failed.
The net result is that the PAP gov tried to fool the whole world and the people of SG so that it could quickly hold a GE, on the false premise that it is unconstitutional to delay the elections.
So, if one were to look at the big or helicopter picture, the PAP was intent on exploiting the COVID-19 spread for the PAP's own interest, at the expense of the people's and the nation's interest.
Hence, with a party like the PAP that stubbornly rejects alternative views, it is impossible for SG, its people and their family to ever enjoy a progressive life as long as the PAP remains in power.
It is impossible for SG to enjoy a a quality of life that is commensurate to the dignity and respect of human life.
Instead, Singaporeans will continue to lag behind in the quality of life, not just in the materialistic sense, but also, and more importantly, in the non-materialistic sense like one's social cohesiveness, cooperativeness, graciousness and caring for one and another in the way we always sing and purport to aspire once a year every year on every 9 AUGUST - "ONE PEOPLE ONE NATION ONE SINGAPORE".
Under the PAP, it would be impossible for Singaporeans to foster a natural propensity for "ONE PEOPLE ONE NATION ONE SINGAPORE", except when the PAP needs to exploit the people for its own benefit.
Under the PAP, SG could only become more self-centered and be limited to being a tool or pawn in the PAP's objective of exploiting, abusing or using the nation's natural resources for its own self-enrichment.
Thus, to those who continue to blindly support the PAP and stonewall alternative voices, your lives may end with you yourself being the sole cause of ruin of the happiness and welfare of your loved ones, like your children and grandchildren.
Thus is the extent of the damage that PAP's self-centred approach will cause, has been causing, and will continue or threaten to cause, to SG.
