War is coming? SAF will be conducting island-wide military exercises

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will be conducting island-wide military exercises next week, involving live-firing and the use of flares and blanks.

It has advised the public not to be alarmed and to stay away from the exercise areas.

These include Seletar, Marsiling, Jalan Bahar, Neo Tiew, Lim Chu Kang, Jalan Kwok Min, Tuas, Upper Jurong, Hong Kah, Ama Keng, Bedok Jetty, Kranji, Lentor, Simpang, Sembawang, and Mandai.

The military exercises will commence at 8am on Monday (April 2) and end at 8am the following Monday (April 9). Blanks and thunder-flashes will be used.

Additionally, live-firing exercises will be conducted at the Pasir Laba (SAFTI) Live Firing Area during this period. Live ammunition and flares will be used.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will also conduct live-firing exercises around Pulau Sudong, Pulau Pawai and Pulau Senang from April 2 to April 6 daily from 7am to 11pm, April 7 from 8am to 5pm and April 8 from 8am to 5pm. Flares will be released during the night firing.

Pity these NSmen, providing entertainment for FT/PRs who don't even want to be in that position. Lights....camera....and action..... erh also pls put up procurement form to replace the ammo near expiry.

While in the trenches, collect some soil sample to do an island while soil research. Hopefully, they get 12 years deferrment, maybe MINDEAF will even refund some of their years.

I've seen that before. My time had pre-enlistment orientation after the first medical checkup. I think only some schools organized that with MINDEF. We were shown around army camp and barracks environment, demos of what's sandbag stacking, concertina wiring, barb wiring, trench digging etc. Shit stuff! When the time came for me to really enlist, I rushed over to police academy. Fortunately, I got qualified to be police. I wasn't really a good police as you've complimented me to be. I just tried to choose between the lesser of two evils. But I did do my job accordingly, nothing more, nothing less. When time came for me to go, I'd be gone.

Yes, you did your job and duty to the country. To me, it doesn't matter where we served as long as we did serve. Lots
of respect to those still serving and sacrificing everything to do their duty to their country.

Actually, minus the jungle trekking and camping, sandbag stacking, barb-wiring and trench-digging, police training isn't as easy-going as often thought too. IPPT is still there. Obstacle course is still there. Shooting is even worse with obstacle course shooting, i.e. run through obstacles at shoot at every designated stage, not just lie down there to aim and shoot. Then there's the mentally grilling of chapters and sections of the statutes. If you don't pass that exam, send back to army.

Agree, no one will make it easy and for sure the instructors will not make it easy, they have to ensure we get all the training. More sweat = less blood in battle.
The run down range is what i didn't enjoy the most.
