A CLEANER found an unconscious man bleeding from the head near a bus stop in Sims Avenue last year.
Taken to Changi General Hospital, security guard Loh Ee Hui, 35, died of a fractured skull 16 hours later.
Ellarry Puling, 26, and Fabian Adiu Edwin, 19, both Malaysians, are now on trial for allegedly killing him on Aug 23.
The two men are from Sabah and came here in 2007.
Testifying on Monday, Mr Rahim Ali, 43, told the High Court that he drove up in a lorry at about 4am to empty the litter bin and clean the area at the bus stop.
He called the police when he saw a bleeding Mr Loh lying motionless on the pavement.
Paramedics were the first to arrive and Mr Rahim and his partner left after their cleaning duries.
Among the 38 prosecution witnesses will be police officers who will testify that Ellarry, a cleaner, and Fabian, a factory worker, stole Mr Loh's cell phone and EZ-link card.
Ellarry's defence is that he had no intention to kill Mr Loh while Fabian will tell the court that he only played a minor role in the fatal robbery.
The trial is expected to last for 13 days.
