A hotel waiter used a master electronic key to enter a guest’s room and molest her, a court heard yesterday.
Pleading guilty to theft and criminal trespass, Vijayanthiran Rajamanikam Rajagi, 23, a Malaysian, was yesterday jailed seven months.
A district court heard that on June 28, two days after checking into Swissotel The Stamford, the 30-year-old Caucasian flight attendant fell asleep after ordering room service at about 11.40pm.
When Vijayanthiran’s colleague went to deliver the food and did not get a response from the victim, he opened the door with a master electronic keycard, and found her sleeping.
Vijayanthiran was present when his colleague told the supervisor about it.
Vijayanthiran then took another master keycard and went to the victim’s room at about midnight.
He let himself in, and stole the victim’s electronic keycard.
Later, he used it three times to enter her room while she was asleep.
The victim woke up at around 4.30am to find Vijayanthiran sleeping beside her with his hand between her thighs.
She shouted and immediately rang her colleague and reported the incident.
Vijayanthiran left. The police were called.
In the meantime, the hotel manager took Vijayanthiran and his colleague to the room, where the victim identified Vijayanthiran as the person who had been there.
Five other criminal trespass charges and one of molestation were taken into consideration.
