Volunteer cop held with stolen bike
JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a member of the Police Volunteer Reserve Corps for possessing a stolen motorcycle.
Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mokhtar Shariff said the 37-year-old suspect was detained by a police officer at a petrol station in Jalan Datin Halimah here on Dec 30 at a 7.33pm.
“The suspect was wearing a jacket with a police logo,” he said at the state police headquarters here yesterday.
DCP Mokhtar said that further checks on the vehicle revealed that the Yamaha motorcycle had a fake registration number and was reported stolen in Larkin in 2006.
He added the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for stealing a vehicle.

In an unrelated case, the police arrested three men, aged between 28 and 41, for involvement in more than seven robberies here.
DCP Mokhtar said police were conducting routine checks in Jalan Sutera in Taman Pelangi at 3.30am on Jan 4 when they spotted a vehicle with suspicious characters.
Among the items recovered were two parang, two knives, a saw, two black ski masks, a spanner, two pairs of gloves, and seven mobile phones.
“The suspects have been remanded until Jan 10 for investigations and two have previous records,” he said.
In another unrelated case, police arrested four men between the ages of 19 and 21 for involvement in 20 robberies.
DCP Mokhtar said the suspects were arrested on Jan 4 at around 10.30pm in Jalan Segget here.
He added that police recovered nine mobile phones, two gold chains, two cameras, a DVD player, and two hammers from the vehicle.
