Congratulations to golden girl Tao Li and the Singapore swim team for winning 14 Gold Medals and breaking several records along the way. The record haul of medals came after a visit by Admiral Teo which inspired the whole swim team to give their all and perform above their personal best times. So, credit must definitely go to Admiral Teo as well ;)

VIENTIANE : Swimmer Tao Li has won her fifth gold medal for Singapore at the 25th SEA Games in Laos on Monday, this time in the women's 200-metre butterfly.

The 19-year-old clocked a time of 2 minutes 13.49 seconds to beat Malaysia's Khoo Chai Lin into second place. Thailand took the bronze.

In the women's 50-metre freestyle, Singapore's Amanda Lim won her first individual gold by beating compatriot Quah Ting Wen. 16-year-old Amanda set a new Games record of 25.82 seconds to edge out Ting Wen, who clocked a time of 25.88 seconds. Malaysia clinched the bronze.

In the women's 400-metre individual medley, Singapore had to settle for silver and bronze behind Thailand's Nattanan Jung-kra-jan, who won in a time of 4 minutes 55.07 seconds. Quah Ting Wen took the silver at 4 minutes 56.32 seconds, while Koh Hui Yi clinched bronze at 4 minutes 56.73 seconds.

In the men's 4x100-metre medley relay, the Singapore boys, clocking a time of 3 minutes 44.15 seconds, managed a silver behind winners Indonesia, who set a new Games record of 3 minutes 41.72 seconds. The Philippines took the bronze with a time of 3 minutes 46.32 seconds.

In the men's 200-metre freestyle, Joshua Lim clocked a personal best time of 1 minute 51.76 seconds to win the bronze. Malaysia's Daniel Bego bagged the gold with a time of 1 minute 49.22 seconds, with Filipino Miguel Molina taking silver with a time of 1 minute 51.71 seconds.

Meanwhile in shooting, Team Singapore overcame the odds on Monday morning to clinch gold in the Men's Team 50-metre Air Pistol event. The trio of Gai Bin, Nigel Lim and Poh Lip Meng shot a total of 1,646 points to beat silver medallist Vietnam by 28 points.

Gai Bin also took the silver in the men's individual 50-metre air pistol event.

In golf, Singapore narrowly missed out of the gold when they were forced to a playoff with Thailand in the team event. The two countries were tied at 19-under 845 and were initially told they would share the gold.

But they were made to fight it out for the top prize. And at the 18th hole, Singapore lost out by one stroke and had to settle for the silver.

In the individual event, Johnson Poh clinched the silver. He was two shots behind Sri Patra Wahsin of Thailand who recorded an 11-under to take the gold.

In Silat, Team Singapore is assured of at least a silver medal, with Nur Dinniyati advancing to the women's Class B finals to face Vietnam.

Her younger brother Mohamad Saifullah had to make do with the bronze medal, after he fell short in the men's class D semi-finals to Indonesia.

Twin brother Mohd Saifudden will be looking to make amends in the men's match class E semi-final on Tuesday also against Indonesia.

In the women's tables tennis doubles finals, Sun Beibei and Yu Mengyu beat Feng Tianwei and Wang Yuegu. - CNA/ms

what nonsense is this? If this is true, Adm Teo should have visited the soccer team instead!:D

You moronic dumbass :oIo:

Do you think anyone in the Singapore soccer squad is capable of holding a decent conservation with a Scholar like Admiral Teo.

Of course he inspired them to swim faster. I bet you would do the same too if someone is admiring your rear.

There is a difference between a scholarship holder and a scholar. Paul Samuelson the MIT economist who passed away on Sunday was a scholar in every sense of the word.
