Vietnamese stabbed to death in argument
JITRA: Friendly banter turned tragic when a 24-year-old Vietnamese was stabbed to death by his housemate. Nguyen Banthey and four others were chatting at their workers’ hostel on the upper floor of a double-storey shoplot at Pekan Jitra 2 here when an argument broke out.
In the heated exchange of words, Banthey was stabbed in the chest with a kitchen knife at 9pm on Monday, Kubang Pasu OCPD Supt Sawaluddin Hamenuddin said.
The suspect, in his 30s, fled after the incident but was arrested about 1km from the scene. Police have classified the case as murder. They have also detained the other men who were in the house at the time of the incident for questioning.
