A woman lost her life while trying to save her four-year-old son from being hit by a train in Hanoi Wednesday, online website VTC reported. He was seriously injured.
At around 8:45 a.m. Duong Thi Phuong, 46, of Ha Tinh Province was in a tea shop in front of the Tu Ky Pagoda in Thanh Tri District with her husband and son.
After a while the boy had wandered out to a railway crossing near the pagoda.
When she saw him on the tracks, to her horror, a train was approaching. She raced to save him, reached the spot and grabbed him, but could not get off the tracks in time.
They were hit by the train and dragged along for some 100 meters. Phuong died on the spot and the boy was seriously injured.
Onlookers rushed the boy to hospital.
