Live till
4 months ago (edited)For decades, Singapore has been an oasis, a beacon of hope, for many people in the region, especially when lives become unbearable in their own countries. At the difficult times of racial- motivated riots that killed thousands of Indonesia Chinese in 1998, Singapore received many who fled here in fear of their safety. It was therefore not surprising that at LKY’s demise several years ago, the outpouring of grief was not limited to Singaporeans, but also many people from other countries, as far as Tamil Nadu in India. Singapore has showed the world that it’s possible for an impossible country to succeed as a first world country in a third world region. As a locally born and bred Singaporean, I hope foreign-born Singaporeans and more locally-born Singaporeans would make even greater effort to blend together and make our country even better. Congrats to your new citizenship.
