Meta’s layoffs were supposed to affect only the lowest-performing workers. Many laid-off staff claimed they received positive performance reviews, but their jobs were cut anyway. Last month, CEO Mark Zuckerberg decided to offload low performers by cutting around 5% of his employees. It looks like the layoffs were made by middle managers who chose subordinates they disliked or seen as threats to their position.
