Prologue:
An outcry erupted in cyberspace last week over rumors that staff of Northwest CDC received 8 months of bonuses in 2008.
Neither the People’s Association or its mayor Dr Teo Ho Pin confirm or deny the rumors when interviewed. Both Dr Teo Ho Pin and Mr Lim Boon Heng defended the bonuses as “fair” and “reasonable”. What do Singaporeans on the ground think?
Excerpts of interview:
“Some people take the money and don’t work like the small girl who fell down from the heights, it is their fault.”
“No, this type of place don’t need to go, the big protect the small and the small bully the cleaners. It is very “dark” and “dirty” inside.”
“It is too ridiculous the two staff receive 8 months of bonus!”
“I thought all government agencies should have standardized bonuses, 8 months is really too much!”
“I receive only one month of bonus last year!”
