Wah, is this uncle a SBF forumer ? How come he speak like some forumers here ???

Watch video interview here:

http://wayangparty.com/2008/11/22/v...-loss-of-town-councils’-sinking-funds-part-2/

Selected quotes from Ah Hai, a Bukit Panjang resident:

“It is TOO SERIOUS !!! This is the people’s money leh !”

“The government should call an external agency to look into the Town Councils’ accounts. The money belongs to the people, not even a single cent should be wasted. If we lose the government’s money, we will be caught and CHARGED !!! Look at the income tax, how many people were caught ??”

“One party in total control, whatever wrong they did, we cannot see !”

It's obvious it's a very amateurish production. Very unethical to sabo the Uncle who was cornered for the interviewed. He already said he didn't want to get into trouble as he can be identified - yet the reporter con him to utter critical comments when the Uncle's face has already been shown in full.

The reporter ought to be shot!

Interviewer told uncle that nobody will know the interview.

And later, when the uncle asked him to stop filming. He agreed, pointed the camera at the other direction but still recording. Uncle must be thinking that the things said later, were not recorded at all.

what do you mean by 'better' ?

Well... Much more better than the previous one below...

Dear Zombie,

Yes, I believe it is very mischievous for them to do that, even unethical. Lack of professional ethics, so to speak. However, from this incident, we could well see that Singaporeans are large will not speak up their mind with such a camera pointing at them. The FEAR factor is quite alive in Singapore, be it imaginative or otherwise.

One of the reason why the PAP government and their leaders are all so out of touch from the ground is that due to this FEAR perpetuated by itself, people will not speak their minds, the truthful views publicly. Thus, it is a vicious cycle. FEAR from the citizens have deprived PAP the REAL VIEWS from th ground and thus, in the end, those ministers in the Ivory Towers would really lose touch.

It is all the same from ancient past till modern autocratic and dictatorship regime that when one is too entrenched into POWER, they will begin to lose touch of the ground, basically due to the fact that they build a big wall dividng themselves from the commoners. And they only depended on people that surrounds them whom most of the time, were more generous with flatteries than criticisms.

That is why we need a truly democratic system, not only for the sake of checks and balances of power within, but also forces the government of the day to listen to criticisms all round; be it from opposition or alternative parties or the people themsleves.

Imagine in Singapore, even the press is being sanitized to such an extend that no news is good news. No news about suicides anymore. No bad news about the economy. No criticisms that would make the government looks stupid. Sometimes it really wonders whether we are really worse than China, the communist regime which still have local media that reported on all sorts of social-economic problems on the ground.

We may not like what the "Singapore Enquirer" reporter did here, but the truth is, that uncle has spoken his REAL TRUE FEELINGS right there, uncensored and non-sanitized.

Another interesting observatoin is that our young people are really apathetic lot. Most of them don't read newspaper, unaware of the current affairs issues surrounding them. This are really worrying signs.

Agree with you. The uncle said a few times not to take his picture. I feel his wish should be respected.

If they believe that the current leaders have no integrity, what makes them more honorable by making use of this uncle?

please lah, please respect the Uncle. what he said is quite reasonable and quite correct.but no need to show his face as repeatedly requested. the ground has spoken. i hope the ivory towers take note.good luck to all singaporeans. have a great sunday!

The reporter needs to brush up his mandarin. SGD8mil also don't know how to say in Mandarin and expect old auntie to know how much is SGD8mil in English. Always prepare questions in advance and don't stammer when posing questions. This will save time.

Also please digitally masked the interviewee face to protect other people privacy. Give them the assurance that their face will not be shown to the public unless the interviewee give consent. Most importantly respect those who are willing to be interviewed. At least make it look like a genuine and professional ground report.

I agree with this statement a lot.

If some say that the PAP has no integrity, then they must have greater integrity.

If we make promises in order to mislead, it is DEFINITELY unethical. And if such people enter politics, it will be a shame to vote for them, because you are voting an unethical person to be your MP.

This matter is beyond fear.

Thanks for sharing. You don't need to be a scholar to have common sense.

The reporter has already clarified. The uncle did allow them to publish his face in the end, you can review the video again. It doesn't make sense for them to shoot themselves in the foot when they can easily black out the face, right ?

Agree with you. The uncle said a few times not to take his picture. I feel his wish should be respected.
